I just received an odd package in the mail today from "Midnight Express" containing a mysterious and gigantic copy of an Alice on Wonderland book. I have never seen this before and don't know what it is, but it looks rather interesting, like a new viral in the works. It turns out the book contains numerous books-within-books that eventually lead to a gothic looking USB key (see the photo below). Another note inside one of the books says "Read Me" and states: "This USB key will take you beyond the gates of Wonderland and unveil the many secrets that await you." Do you want to find out what's on it? Then keep on reading!

The USB drive didn't contain much. There were 3 photos we've seen before (including the new one from today) and a 1080p high res copy of the latest official trailer. I watched it just to see if there was new footage or hidden messages but there were none, so it seems like that's a dead end. But it doesn't seem like the trail ends here, so I've got to do some more investigating, because there was another "clue" I found in one of the books that seems to pointing somewhere else. But before we get to that, check out a few photos of the books:

The other note I got came on a blue slip of paper. It read: "Greetings! The proper spelling of Alice's last name is KINGSLEIGH. That's Kings-L-E-I-G-H… not L-E-Y. Thank you. Sincereleigh ~ Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Publicity." I'm not sure if that's a joke or a hidden message or what, but I feel like there's something else there. I'm going to keep searching the books and scouring the web to find more. I did notice that in one of the books, the second to smallest one that's labeled "Characters" it spells Alice's name as "Kingsley." Maybe there's something going on? Or else Disney was just correcting a spelling mistake.

So my conclusion so far is that this is only just a glamorious piece of promotional material. As in, there isn't a viral game to be played, it's just here to look at. I also got one of these promo mailings for Where the Wild Things Are recently, and it's just a way of sort of highlighting their upcoming movies in a glossy package. It works for me, because I get a bit excited about the viral potential, but it sounds like this was a promo and that's it. We'll keep you updated anyway, in case someone finds anything. Though it looks like The Lovely Bones isn't a critical success, there is almost unanimous agreement that Saoirse Ronan delivers another impressive performance comparable to that of her last Oscar nominated performance for Best Supporting Actress in Atonement. Now Ronan will reunite with Atonement director Joe Wright in Hanna, the story of a 14-year-old Eastern European girl (Ronan) raised by her father to be a cold-blooded killing machine. She connects with a French family only to be dragged back into her father's world where she must confront her dark past while at a CIA prison camp and fight her way to a free life.

Seth Lochhead & David Farr worked on the script which is described as having shades of La Femme Nikita and the Bourne movies (but then again what action movie isn't described using the action stylings of Jason Bourne nowadays). Anyway, Ronan is a young talent who looks to be one of the greatest of her generation and should be around for a long time. And as long as she keeps choosing unique and challenging roles, she'll be sure to keep everyone's interest. As for Hanna, I already can't wait to see her kicking as an assassin. It's great to see the way-too-young female assassin character on the rise again (well, maybe it's the first time).

Three months ago I visited South Korea, it was my second time visiting it. I think South Korea is more a country to live in for a while to truly enjoy it, that a country to visit briefly. It surprised me that South Korea has many similarities with my home country, Spain. Both countries have a similar population (around 50 million people), they have similar GDP (South Korea’s GDP being a little lower) and both have experienced an astounding economic development in the last 20-30 years. Korean multinational companies like Daewoo, Samsung or LG are slowly eating global marketshare to the big Japanese corporations.

When I have been to Incheon airport near Seoul it looked to me like one of the best airports I’ve been in my life. Next to the airport a new international business center is being developed. Known as “Incheon business hub“, it hosts multiple corporations, startup offices, museums, universities, research institutes… It looks like a great start to develop something that could be in the future an Asian Silicon Valley. One of the inconvenients of the airport, which is about to be solved during this year, is that there is no direct railway from Incheon airport to downtown Seoul.

I love Seoul, it is a city with a great atmosphere where you can spend many days having fun. The main tourist atraction in Seoul is Gyeongbokgung Palace, which although it isn’t as stunning has the forbidden city in Beijing, it’s pretty impressive. The Korean architectural feel is somewhere in the middle between Chinese and Japanese architectural styles.

Most of the Japanese people that travel to South Korea only do it to go shopping (it’s relatively cheap compared to Japan) and to enjoy Korean food. Japanese people are crazy about Korean food, specially Korean yakiniku (barbecued meat), kimchi, samgyeopsal, burkogi… I really enjoyed the food but maybe sometimes it was a little too spicy for me, almost everything is spicy!

With Sony officially confirming the Spider-Man 4 delay, other studios have jumped at the opportunity to take the coveted early May 2011 release spot that they left vacant. Variety has confirmed that Paramount has moved Marvel's Thor movie up two weeks to May 6th, 2011, which was Spider-Man 4's original opening weekend. And then Disney moved Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides back into the May 20th, 2011 slot (which they've used before) that Thor was in. So a bit of a shift, but enough of a change to leave Sony with their tail between their legs over how all the Spidey infighting has cost them their spot.

Both of these studios jumped and took those spots even though Sony "said it wasn't abandoning the date." So there is a possibility, although unlikely, that Sony could figure things out with the script and still start shooting on time. And if that happens, Variety suspects that Thor will move back out of that slot. But for the time being, Marvel is putting its foot down and holding onto that early May date. In only five more months, they'll be releasing Iron Man 2 in the first weekend of May as well. They may become the next "owners" of that spot if Sony can't figure things out quickly. But then again, Spider-Man is a Marvel franchise anyway.

Paramount has debuted the first official trailer for She's Out of My League starring Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve. This new comedy from the guys who brought you Sex Drive is about a regular joe who lands the perfect girl but starts to lose it when his confidence gives out. The only reasons I'm into this are that Jay Baruchel is a pretty damn good up-and-coming actor and Alice Eve looks ridiculously cute in this movie. I mean, this does look pretty stupid, of course, but maybe it's fun to occasionally enjoy a stupid comedy like this. The best part though - whoa wait, there's a fighter pilot in this? Okay, now it's pretty awesome. Enjoy!

An average joe (Jay Baruchel) who works as a TSA security guard meets the perfect woman (Alice Eve), but his lack of confidence and the influence of his friends & family begins to pick away at the relationship.

She's Out of My League is directed by actor/writer/director Jim Field Smith of a few short films previously. He is making his feature directorial debut with this film. The screenplay was co-written by Sean Anders and John Morris (both of Never Been Thawed and Sex Drive previously). Paramount is bringing She's Out of My League to theaters everywhere starting on March 12th. It may not be for everyone, but will you see this?

As of late, an interesting trend in movies has been bringing in a hip band to write the score that will set the tone for the entire film. Arcade Fire came on board to provide music for Richard Kelly's film The Box and the band Mastodon has been set to score the upcoming Jonah Hex. Recently, it looks like another band had the opportunity to showcase their composition talents on the big screen as ClashMusic says that British rock band Muse was offered the chance to score the upcoming Clash of the Titans remake, however, going by their odd quotes and the timing of this story, it's unclear if this is something that actually happened or not.

Muse's lead singer and frontman Matt Bellamy talked with the British tabloid Daily Star about Clash of the Titans, but he doesn't come right out and say they're doing/have done the score - it's confusing. He says:

"It's something we're up for doing – it's just a case of timing because we're always on tour. Clash Of The Titans is the first interesting offer we've had for film work. We're definitely interested in writing for films at some point when we get a break from being on the road."

So it almost sounds like they wanted to do it but it never got finalized. There's also several other points of contention working against Muse's involvement. First, IMDb lists Craig Armstrong as the composer on Clash of the Titans. On top of that, it's also a bit late to sound so uncertain about composing music for an epic, effects heavy film that comes out this March especially since the band is supposed to begin a 12-date tour of the South Korea and Australia tomorrow. And finally, Bellamy has spoken of working on Titans before, way back in October, when he mentioned the possibility in an interview with The Ampersand.

Honestly, I wish and/or hope that this truly is a done deal so that we can hear the majestic sounds of Muse running through intense action sequences of monster fighting and deity battling, especially since I'm mostly displeased with the in-your-face hard rock/metal sounds on the current Clash of the Titans trailers. Muse has much more of an epic rock sound almost like a rock orchestra sometimes with remnants of woodwind and brass scattered throughout. If you're unfamiliar or simply not confident in their skills or need for them to score a film, go listen to the three part "Exogenesis" tracks on their most recent album The Resistance.

Just close your eyes and tell me you can't picture a spectacular film in action to their sweet sounds. Even if they don't end up scoring Clash of the Titans then I hope they get picked up to score something else or even provide the title song for the new Bond flick. Either way, I hope we get to hear Muse on the big screen soon!
